This is probably the most elegant freeware program I've ever used. Straight foward and a joy to use. As good as it gets for sketching with natural media. Maybe the nay-sayers work for Corel.

So what you're saying is, Corel feels threated by this app? I work for myself. I've been drawing and painting for 35 years and know what I like and want. Not everyone likes Photoshop and prefer to use Gimp. Get a bit more informed before writing that passive agressive stuff. Not everyone has the smae tastes. Deal with it.

" I've been drawing and painting for 35 years and know what I like and want." In that case, you're probably willing to pay a lot more than $20 for painting software. Not everyone is in that position. Corel Painter sells for $429, vs $20 for ArtRage. One would probably have to be a pro or very serious amateur to pay that much.

It might also pay to check the reviews/ratings of Corel Painter here on VersionTracker. They are not very encouraging.

Wow... you can always tell you've hit a nerve when someone replies with a PERSONAL, unwarranted insult and a holier-than-thou pedantic tone.

I think the original poster meant that as a half-joke. I for one agree that this seems like a nice alternative to people who don't want to pay over $400 for a painting app, yet want to have some of that functionality.
