True enough. But there's still the issue of menu bar space allocation. My 12" PowerBook sometimes has so little I need to invoke a nifty little app named NoMenuBar via a hotkey.Friday, January 27 2006 @ 11:50 AM PST

APE has many unneeded hooks - this is easy and slick, and adds the hotkey. i am sure there are more improvments and the author is very responsive to feedback.Friday, January 27 2006 @ 02:54 PM PST

Among other improvements, v1.1 adds HotKey support for quick Desktop toggling.
Before I created Desktopple, I looked at DesktopSweeper, but I didn't like the idea of having to install _two_ pieces of software (APE & DesktopSweeper) for the same functionality.
