I have been a user of Now Contact and Up-to-Date since 1996. It was then a buggy but promising software... The new version is still buggy and I no longer believe in its promises.
The same bugs have been there for the last four or five years. For instance, if you use the server, and if you make a change to a contact file then move it to another public category, the changes you just made are reversed. They knew of the problem four years ago but haven't fixed it.
I have discovered new bugs with the keywords feature. Have brought then to the attention of their support team and haven't heard back. They do not seem to care.
Lastly, the current version of the software has fewer features that its ancestors. Remember when you could enter an Appointment from the menu bar by just typing "Lunch with Smith" and a 12n to 1p.m. appointment was automatically scheduled and you were offered a list of all the "Smith" in your database so that you could select the right one with one click? That's long gone.
I could go on and on. The company seems thoroughly incompetent and should not be in the software business.

If you are on PC go for Act! Otherwise this seems to be the best for the price.Wednesday, January 25 2006 @ 05:11 AM PST

I am sorry but I do agree with this. It is a shame but I migrated from Act! because I wanted a true cross platform data base and after wasting many hours trying to get keywords to synchronise from PC <=> Mac I emailed NUTD and was told, very promptly (thanks) that they are having trouble with keyword synching so have withdrawn it on the PC.!!! Synching over the net works and doesn't work - why? Vary vexing. Seems to be a good company but just does not seem to be able to make it yet.Wednesday, January 25 2006 @ 05:09 AM PST

I absolutely agree. I'm still using the previous version after trying the upgrade, (and messing up my computer, it took to days to fix it and go back to version 4), I've been looking for an alternative but can't find another program to do what this one does. I'm a single user so the group scheduling is not a big issue for me, but the ability to group people under categories and keywords is very useful..any recommendations?
