Pages has to be the worst Apple branded software I've used. I bought it specifically because it supposedly reads Appleworks files, of which I have a plethora. Well, despite the fact that my Appleworks files are exclusively word processor files, Pages fails to read them all. They put out two patches, neither of them fixed it, and of course, there is no upgrade path to 2.0. This software is a complete turd and a ripoff, and I encourage everyone to buy something else, like Nisus Writer.

Perhaps its the singer not the song? Pages certainly opens appleworks files and is excellent value for money for middle of the road desktop publishing etc.Try again and also try not to give pontificating comments unless you have thoroughly researched first.
Good luck!

I have AppleWorks and it does not open all of my AppleWorks files. Usually ones from the days of ClarisWorks about version 1.0. I also now have Pages which I like as a DTP add-on to iLife, but it is not really a replacement for a general purpose wordprocessor, but worth the money with an educational discount.Thursday, January 19 2006 @ 02:05 AM PST

I bought Pages for the fantanstic templates and extraordinary graphics capabilities. It also open both Word and AppleWorks files so there are three reasons why Nisus is no longer in my Applications folder.Thursday, January 19 2006 @ 05:18 AM PST

Apple annouces the new version 2, and now you are commenting the one-year-old version 1.0.2. One year too late! Now it is time to look at version 2, not at the older ones....
