Product Platform:

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: YES

I've used Launch Em for years, currently 4.0.2.

As others have said, Installigent is a horrible company... WHERE did they get a name like Installigent? Email requests are never answered, finding anything on their web site is a pointless endeavor. I hope Installigent sells Launch Em to a company that actually CARES about it!

Thank the Gods I've never actually needed any support.

That said, Launch Em is STILL a nice, straightforward and logical launcher. No, it's not the prettiest. I've tried Silver Screen and ZLauncher, which are visually nice and visually customizable, but functionally quite rigid. They are both memory hogs.

I stick with Launch Em for one main reason...
I can place my category tabs wherever I want.

The other launchers force you to use TOP tabs ONLY. If you have more than 1 or 2 tabs, fine, but if you have several, you've got to scroll through the tabs before you can open it and then launch an application. This adds up to a lot more fussing and clicking to get to what you need.

With Launch Em, I keep my tabs on the right side, where I can ALWAYS see ALL of my tabs, vertically stacked. I see them ALL at a glance.

One other note, I just got a Palm TX (fantastic, except for Graffiti 2... UGH), running Palm OS 5.4.2. For some reason, there's no way to override the TX Home button to use ANY launcher you like with it. A shame.

After all this, can I recommend Launch Em? Yes, but just be wary of the general attitude of Installigent.

Setting Home on the TX to your preferred launcher - foaf

Regarding setting the Home button to your preferred launcher, just install ButtonsEx (freeware).

Enjoy!
