here's what Abbath says in another post - Rufus J
" i compared the SAME DISC and used DVD FAST COPY (change the name to SLOW) and DVD2oneX and Roxio Popcorn. the results: DVD2oneX = MINT! hardly noticed it was compressed. -- ROXIO POPCORN = VERY GOOD! not as smooth or clear as DVD2oneX, but it was decent. a good start that needs better compression schemes to increase quality. -- DVD FAST COPY = POOR!"Version 2 is certainly no less competent. It is still true that most negative posters seem to be retaliating for the fact that this is a paid upgrade and/or they haven't bothered to explore the new interface enough to learn how to use the software. It should be noted that several of the requests for changes to the interface have been addressed and there is now a full menu including "Quit" and "Hide" and they added a button that allows you to backtrack without opening a new DVD from the file menu (that WAS weird!). All the old options are there if one selects the "movie only" option and unfolds the menu options. Not so complicated or obscure IMO.
I don't know of any real competetive substitute for OS X.

this is good software. the increase in speed from version one to version two was worth the price, and now the speed has been bumped up again. thanks! keep up the good work!Thursday, February 02 2006 @ 03:05 PM PST

What makes you say it's a bug? What have you done to troubleshoot your problem? This is an all too common problem with OS X and is most frequently the result of corruption in your Home directory. This seems especially likely since you can open one version but not any subsequent ones. You can verify this by trying to run the app in a different user account. The software itself works. Perhaps you should fix your system problem and not blame the developer for it. If that doesn't work, try the support forum at dvd2one.com.Sunday, February 05 2006 @ 10:31 AM PST
it works fine here - Rufus J
I can't say why it won't open on your Mac but I have had no trouble with it here and haven't ever. Not on 10.3.9, 10.4.2, 10.4.3 nor 10.4.4. What have you done about troubleshooting your problem? People should be able to figure out whether your experience is relevant to them by using the trial. What features are missing? Have you posted at the developer's forum for feature requests? This app works great, giving high quality compression very very fast. It allows the selection and omission of various DVD features and the joining of multiple episodes of your favorite cartoon DVDs into one DVD compilation. It's probably as fully featured as most users need or want. I personally believe anyone interested in compressing DVDs shold definitely look at this. It should be pointed out that the majority of negative posters for this version are people who used a previous version and don't want to pay for the upgrade, which is a reasonable decision, but not by itself a reason to say this app is no good, and completely irrelevant to new users. The early crashing issues on 10.3 were quickly resolved. My advice is to ignore this post and his rating and try it for yourself. What is "flammed"??? Perhaps you meant to say "flamed", which is probably the result of your hysterical frothing which is disputed by the experiences of those who respond and who don't want to see you bashing what is to them a fine app.Reply to This
