iEye does look kind of like 2.0 but can't compare to the standard iTunes look of 2.0. It seems buggy. I could not see a way to add a schedule or edit a schedule directly in it. Adding an item to a playlist doesn't appear to be drag and drop as it should be, and I see no way to add a recording to a playlist other than going through EyeTV and then reloading iEye Captain. Every time I click on an Info button the iEye main window goes away never to come back until I relaunch it. The Edit button, or contextual menus Edit doesn't seem to work well at all for Schedules other than Select all or Duplicate Schedule. If I go to "Edit with EyeTV" nothing happens, like a lot things do in this. Edit does work for recordings by bringing up EyeTV.
It know you put a lot into this, I respect the work of developers, but I can't see this beta being worth $20. With it's current state, and no Help menu, but add it's potential, I'm Neutral on it at this time. At least from my trying it out I wouldn't do it due to all the bugs I encountered. Maybe it's because I'm on 2.0 of EyeTV? You do say it is supposed to work with it though. It has a lot of potential, it's just really non-functional right now for me in its current state.

IMPORTANT: ENABLE ASSISTIVE DEVICES - GrahamAJones
Hi,
It just occurred to me that many of the things that wouldn't work for you must be caused by Universal Access...
There are a few omissions in EyeTV's script support that forced me to use a Mac OS X feature that depends on Universal Access -- you must go into your System Preferences to the Universal Access pane, and make sure that the check box for "Enable access for assistive devices" is checked.
I forgot to mention this in the "Read Me," and this would definitely be the cause of many menu items and toolbar items not working.
Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks,
Graham Jones,
Developer.

0835 fixes scheduling issue - GrahamAJones
Hi (from developer),Thanks for your comments. Build 0835 should be posted shortly, and fixes many of the scheduling issues you mentioned. You can access build 0835 directly from the iEye download page at http://www.vidcan.com/Software/Downloads.html .
Outside of the bug fixes, I think you might be misunderstanding what "beta" means -- it looks like you are evaluating my software as if it were a release version, which it clearly isn't. I would respectively suggest a few things...
• this is a "beta" for a reason--- what works on my test system may not work on someone else's, so I rely on bug reports to work things out. In order for me to fix them, I need to know details about your system, and what led to the bug or error. There are detailed instructions in the Read Me about how to report bugs--- those that are reported to me directly are often fixed within a few days.
• It's not really fair to compare iTunes or EyeTV to my software--- those are designed by teams of full-time programmers, and I am doing my best between my family and busy day job to do this on evenings and weekends. That being said, there are about 30 essential power tools in iEye Captain, like multiple archive support and infrared cable box control, that EyeTV's team still couldn't fit in their software, despite working a year on their new 2.0 version.
• As for asking for $20, I offer free iChat support to registered users, a free license to a movie database app I am almost finished, and I have invested over 1000 hours into this... Plus, 29 of the features work perfectly in the unregistered version -- there are many apps that only do one or two things, and ask $15. I extended the beta periods twice already -- someone could have used my app for free for 4 months and counting. I'm not sure what is not fair about that? EyeTV put less into version 2.0, and they are charging $49.
• Almost all of the things you mentioned are in the manual and "Read Me" -- there is a detailed development calendar that shows when these issues will be fixed.
• I only got my hands on EyeTV 2.0 on Monday of this week--- I pulled an all-nighter Monday night to get iEye Captain ready so that the many people who depend on my app could use it with EyeTV 2.0. I expect there to be hiccups -- believe me, I would have loved to have had weeks of development time and lots of cooperation from Elgato to work out compatibility issues-- of course neither happened. I would say getting a complicated app like iEye Captain even to work with EyeTV 2.0 within 1 day and with zero information should earn some kind of points...?
As for playlists (which EyeTV hasn't bothered to introduce until this week, and iEye Captain has had working perfectly for months), the way to use them is explained in the manual. I have not worked out drag and drop support yet, but that doesn't mean they don't work. I would remind you that EyeTV's own software only became drag-and-drop capable a few weeks ago, after how many years?
As for not having a "Help" menu, does the fact that it has a 46-page manual with screen shots count for anything?
I really hope you will give the app a second chance... the new 0835 build which I just released today already addresses many of the issues you encountered, and I am on a frantic pace (100 hours/week between this and my day job) to work out every other bug and get the online help finished by the end of February. But I would highly suggest that you read the "Read Me" document for known issues, and also read the manual to understand how the program works.
Thanks,
