It turns out this update isn't all roses, at least not for me. Maybe not even dandelions. Indeed I may go back to version 1.0 on my 60 GB vPod. I have since found that after installing the 1.1 firmware on my vPod, some videos which played just fine prior to the upgrade no longer play successfully. So far these are all videos converted with iSquint using MPEG4 format (not H.264 - I haven't used H.264 in iSquint), where I set the quality to the maximum, and the audio bitrate to 128 kbps. Prior to 1.1 these played perfectly. After installing 1.1, I get about 31 seconds into the videos and then they freeze. If I scan forward a few seconds it will sometimes restart playing, but sometimes without sound. Other times it will start again with sound, but then a bit later it freezes again.
I tried moving the iSquint quality down one notch (to "High") and the problem got only slightly better. This time at about 31 seconds it paused for about 3 or 4 seconds, but then continued. However, at 1:22 the video playback froze and didn't restart again. I'm now trying "Standard" quality, but the conversion is in progress as I type. In any case, it's quite disheartening to no longer be able to use the "Go nuts" or even "High" quality settings. Incidentally, I also tried "restoring" my vPod to factory state and reloading it from scratch, but that didn't help.
Moreover, playback of a DVD I ripped with Handbrake is showing periodic very brief stutters as well, although I don't know if it was doing this prior to 1.1 as I hadn't tried playing it until today.
Is anyone else seeing this problem?

Periodic pauses and freezes in video playback - brent_sordyl
I updated my vPod with version 1.1 and am seeing the same '31 seconds' issue. My content purchased from iTunes works fine but everything I converted using Videora pauses at 31 seconds and then will start playing again after roughly 4 seconds. However, when I'm playing my vPod through the cables to a TV it pauses at 31 seconds and then when it starts playing again 4 seconds later there is no sound.Tuesday, January 17 2006 @ 05:35 AM PST
Periodic pauses and freezes in video playback - ktate1
After updating to version 1.1 on my IPOD (Black 60GB) movies that previously ran now freeze about every 30 seconds or so. I used Xilisoft to convert the movies. Strangely the music vidoes I have do not freeze granted the quality and size are not near that of the movies. Looks Like I'm going back to version 1.0.Monday, January 30 2006 @ 06:17 PM PST
