Still no update for 3g iPods, which despite Apple ignoring the fact, does not have perfect software. Still at version 2.3. I can't remember the last time it was updated but it has been at least a year or more.
Class Action anyone?

Yeah. The biggest problem with my 20GB 3G is that if I pause, when I resume playing it won't play to the end of the song. The amount of time cut off the end of the song seems linked to how long the song remains paused. It is extremely annoying and is such an obvious software bug. It can't be that hard to track down since something is happening while the song is being paused. What tells the iPod to stop playing a file? Obviously not an EOF. One programmer could solve this in a day or two if Apple wanted to.Wednesday, January 11 2006 @ 07:13 AM PST

Get over it. You can't expect a company to support software forever.Wednesday, January 11 2006 @ 04:22 PM PST

that is BS. it's one thing for a company to stop supporting really old versions of software because they are supporting current versions, it's another thing when that software is integral to an expensive piece of hardware. How long after OS X was first released did Apple continue to support OS 9 on older Macs? Even Microsoft supports old versions of office to a limited degree. At the very least existing bugs should be ironed out of firmware that drives a popular product. This is nothing other than planned obsolecense.Thursday, January 12 2006 @ 05:16 AM PST

Well, I don't know if a class action is warranted, but I too am really disappointed at how quickly Apple drops support for its older iPod models. It's quite transparently designed to get people to upgrade iPods, I think. It would be no big deal technically to be able to update 3G iPods to have many of the features 4Gs or I think 5Gs have. Podcast handling is one I can think of.Reply to This
