Help!

Feedback Type:  Troubleshooting Report

Contributed by: 尼克 Tuesday, January 10 2006 @ 04:21 PM PST

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

I used software update and unfortunately, I have lost my menu bar. The time, Airport control, everything is gone!

Can anyone suggest some troubleshooting on this? The update to Safari went into a folder other than the one I had it in and now it will not work either!

Help! (Try Permissions Repair) - deemery

Launch Disk Utility, select your boot drive, and click on Repair Permissions. If that works, come back and let us know.

Just did that and then restarted. Still none of it will show up. :-(

Any other ideas?

I tried turning off Spotlight via renmaing the Core Service as described at http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050430210248363 and then the rest workes, so I guess Spotlight was the culprit!

I am glad I use QuickSilver rather than Spotlight, otherwise I might lemenet not being able to use Spotlight!

Help! - Dester Wallaboo

Try downloading Applejack and using it (if you are using your machine in single-user mode that is).

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596

you can use the deep cleaning method that is described in the readme document that accompanies the installer.
