Good But missing what I want

Feedback Type:  Commentary

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

I have asked EyeTV this before and I was hoping that this might do what I want. Maybe I missed it, but under device settings in EyeTV you can set the Quality to High, Standard, Long-playing, etc. I was hoping that This program might be able to get around EyeTV for that, only because there are certain programs I record in High and others I really don't need to record at a high quality.

Good But missing what I want - antoniong

I did ask them a few months ago and received a message saying they were considering this option for next release. So maybe it is in.

Elgato's department, unfortunately - GrahamAJones

Hi (from developer),

Thanks for your message. I wholeheartedly agree! I also asked Elgato for this over a year ago--- ironically, this feature has for quite some time been hidden in their software and disabled for some reason. (for techies--- if you have Developers Tools, open up the EyeTV.app package and look for the "Program.nib" file--- you will see a "Quality" option hidden at the bottom of the info window layout-- it has been there for at least a year).

Unlike the other 30+ features I have been able to add to EyeTV, this one would necessitate a workaround that is very invasive and would at best cause occasional missed recordings: every time the quality was switched, iEye Captain would have to cause EyeTV to quit, rewrite the EyeTV preferences, and then cause it to launch again. Back to back recordings would be either not possible or problematic.

Because Elgato can enable this functionality at any time, I am more inclined to wait for them to bring in this functionality in EyeTV than to pursue a problematic workaround.

To all who read this: the squeaky wheel gets the grease! Please request this feature from Elgato -- remind them again if you already suggested this to them. It is far better for this to be actually under the hood in the EyeTV software itself than to try to kludge a potentially troublesome workaround.

Thanks,
Graham Jones
Developer,
iEye Captain.
