when is this beneficial, why would i need it?

could be handy for those who want to avoid the command line, but still i can't think why it would need to be done.

Sometimes spotlight's index needs to be rebuilt.
Generally speaking, it works fine on its own, but sometimes it needs a little help.

I've actually released this to the public (free) after a few small clients had spotlight-related problems and paid to have this package built.

So, should you need this package? Not if everything works fine.
But, sometimes it doesn't.
