I must admit, I was a bit surprised at some of the (over?) reaction here. I have some ringing in my ears (only noticeable in quiet situations, really), but it's not what I consider serious at this point. But it's no wonder... I've played drums and percussion for 40 years, worked in a factory for three years where a lot of the equipment made loud, high-pitched squeals, etc., and more recently I've been involved in a yard care business (for 13 years) which requires daily use of loud machines. Add to this (over the years) much listening to music, loud rock concerts, and the everyday noise of living (loud traffic, sirens, you name it), and you might say my 51-year-old ears have heard their share. We subject ourselves to this sort of racket every day, and there is nothing illegal about it. If the author of this software makes no false claims about being a doctor, and makes no guarantees about results, or even states something like, "use at your own risk," I fail to see what's wrong here. It's a program that generates sound... big deal. A lot of other software can generate bizarre sound effects, etc., and we gladly listen to that, not to mention all the other kinds of sound we are hit with every day. Sheesh people, lighten up. No one is forcing you to use this software if you think it's bad for you.
I haven't tried this software, nor have I looked at the developer's site, because I just don't feel the need right now. I just wanted to comment because it seems to me there is a misguided witch hunt going on here.

Obviously I read the comments, or I wouldn't have bothered responding. If the "average Joe" doesn't know what he's doing, or has concerns about this program, then he shouldn't try it, simple as that. Just like herbal remedies, it's the consumer's choice; they're available, but no one is making you try them. Some will say they work, some will say they don't. As I pointed out, if the author makes no false claims or guarantees, it's ridiculous to cry, "Ban these sounds!" What's next? Ban "Sound Of An Image" because you say it converts a picture of satan into evil audio that will make us possessed? Get real.Monday, December 19 2005 @ 07:13 AM PST

I'm 51 too and I was a sound man for bands and did everything else you did and more. My Tinnitus is from Lyme disease on the brain. Some epileptics can get seizures from certain sounds, so this really is not a harmless application. People don't need more false hopes, and loose money on it. This is a money making scam and should be investigated.Wednesday, November 15 2006 @ 09:43 AM PST

>I fail to see what's wrong here. It's a program that generates sound... big deal. Then obviously you didn't read the commentary or can't comprehend what you read.
How is the average Joe supposed to know which frequencies in which order and and WHAT AMPLITUDE will achieve the desired effect over a span of months or YEARS as the auditory portion of the brain starts to become modified?
And you're supposed to use what, your iPod earbuds jacked into your Mac's sound out port?
Astounding.
