File not unix-executable

Feedback Type:  Troubleshooting Report

Contributed by: schip Thursday, December 08 2005 @ 01:46 PM PST

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: YES

The program will not open when I double click it. I found out why. The supposedly executable unix file "/PUTPARENTDIRECTORYHERE/PiXel Check V1.2/PiXel Check V1.2.app/Contents/MacOS/PiXel Check" does not have the correct permissions set. I used Terminal and issued the command "chmod 755 'PiXel Check'" after reaching the appropriate directory. After that, all was fine. Developer: fix the problem, please. Using 10.4.3 (Tiger) on a 2003 Powerbook G4.

File not unix-executable - Mayhem!

schip,

I just downloaded the file and the executable bit is set fine. After 40,000+ downloads, you're the first to report this, so I'm not sure what that means. I have changed the download on my .Mac site from a StuffIt (.sit) archive to a .zip archive. Perhaps when StuffIt was causing some problems (I did have about 4 or 5 reports of not being able to unstuff the archive, and maybe your problem was related).

If you could re-download the .zip file and see if that properly extracts (and executes) and post your findings (and remove your comment about it not working), that would be great.

Thanks for the report!
