How much memory?

Feedback Type:  Review

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Currently ED is only running around 0.8% CPU, but it apparently eats about 100 MB of active ram, and 350 MB of virtual ram. This may be due to pasting the image over the original desktop image... let me check on this... hmm. no change. Not sure. It does render images, so my guess is that's what's eating up the memory allocation.

I'll try out the "competition" and check back later on.

Otherwise a gorgeous rendering. Quite beautiful. Kudos on a great app.

How much memory? - Xeric Design, Ltd.

The memory used is largely virtual as there is an 80MB file on disk that is only loaded as needed, but is marked by the OS as being used. From our FAQ page:

"EarthDesk typically uses about 10MB of real RAM and up to 100MB of virtual memory. The maps are stored on disk and read into RAM in 4kb blocks. While EarthDesk may show that it is using 100MB, if any other process needs this space, the memory will be purged."
