I foolishly decided to register Alarm Clock Pro before I had really used it for very long. Immediately I found that (like the user who reviewed this product on 10/26/05) it takes an inordinate amount of clicks just to tell it to wake me up at 5:40, then configuring the Power Manager is another tedious process.
But wait, there's more: Even when I used Power Manager, the computer did not wake up consistently at the correct time. More specifically, the computer woke up 5 minutes prior to the alarm and then slept again 3 minutes later, so when the alarm time actually came, the machine had gone back to sleep.
The developer has consistently (read: up to 4x/month) updated this application, even including my "bug" on the release notes "to do" section. But months later, after paying the $15 and eventually ceasing my use of the software altogether, my bug had still not been addressed.
Finally, when the new release did claim to have fixed the bug, the developer informed me that I must upgrade to OS X 10.4 in order for the new "feature" to work. Now, for my 10.3.9 system, the software does not wake the computer from sleep at all. His message was, "Looks like it has, unfortunately, become a 10.4 only feature."
Twice within days of registering the product, I politely asked for my money back since the software was not performing as described. Even while replying to e-mails containing this question, he ignored my request entirely and addressed only the software issues.
Thank God for 20 year-old Radio Shack alarm clocks and Moms (no, I don't still live with mine, but sometimes I wish I did!)
