Firefox is easily the most frustrating OS X app I've tried. It is so very close to greatness, but because of a few shortcomings it just sits on my HD, unused.
Firefox's speed, GUI, and appearance rock my world. This app was clearly designed with love. But there is one shortcoming that overshadows all of Firefox's brilliance:
It has no spell checker.
This perplexing shortcoming is entirely unacceptable for someone like myself who posts regularly to online forums. I must check my spelling because it is poor, and my typing is sloppy. Safari checks spelling no problem, using OS X's built-in spell checker. Why doesn't Firefox use OS X's spell checking capability? Why doesn't Camino? Who knows. It's a terrible shame for such a wonderful browser to be crippled by a lack of spell checking ability.
If Firefox is ever built to exploit Apple's free spell checking, then it'll be my default browser. Until then, it sits on my HD to make me feel like I have a diverse array of browsers at my disposal.

Google Toolbar Spell check for Firefox - macmedix
Until it becomes a built in feature...The Google Toolbar for Firefox provides a spellchecker. It's not the same as the built-in Apple spell checker. You have to push the button to use it. But it's built on Google's spellcheck which seems pretty good so far. It also provides a "auto-Form Fill" feature among others. Download it from:

Hey try using cocoAspell 2.0.2 works really good... and is in beta right now, so free.http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14748
The bonus being that it supports many more languages than the built in spellchecker, I use Danish my self and that works really good...
