I noticed Earthdesk when it was around version 2.7.3 or a bit earlier and later scrounged up the money to buy it at version 3.0. I have not been disappointed. Although it has the indignity of running on my ole' G3 iBook, it still looks beautiful, especially with the addition of the clouds a few versions back. At any rate, feel free to try XPlanet if you want a freebie desktop but when you're ready to have a real program where you can feel the development and see the improvements with each version, then I'm sure you'll come back to this program.
