I'm not sure if the regular Allume download link (or whatever VT is linking to) is Expander 10.0.1, you can definitely get v10.0.1 via FTP.

OS X's built-in Finder FTP client won't connect to Allume's FTP server for some reason, but you can use Panic's Transmit FTP client or any other to connect to ftp.allume.com.

The path is:
/pub/mac/StuffIt/For_MacOS_10.3_and_later/stuffit_exp_1001_x_install.dmg

I installed this and it is indeed v10.0.1 and it doesn't crash when version checking is on and IPv6 is off.

I am not able to get the download to work through Transmit using the path you supplied. What server did you enter? And what kind of download.
