your problems were similar to mine. I have 10.4.2 but reverted to 10.3.9 because the problems with 10.4 made the machine unusable (10.3.9 just about usable).

looks like its worth me upgrading to 10.4.3 and applying the patch

You're welcome, Usarian. Maybe another fix regarding Tiger I discovered recently is useful for you too. When I updated to 10.4 suddenly I had issues with some applications, as it turned out all were font related. One app would only start up properly when I had deleted its prefs before. As it alway crashed when the splash screen began listing the installed fonts it was reasonable to assume it was related to fonts. Another app always crashed whenever I tried to use the text box tool. This was font related too. I never had those problems in 10.3. What finalled solved those issues was to revert all the system fonts (located in /system/library/fonts) to their versions from the 10.3 system. Sounds strange, and I don't know why, but that solved it. Right now Tiger is finally an environment I can be productive with.

Best regards,
Quintessenz
