Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

1) Comes bundled with an installer instead of just letting you drag the application folder into the appropriate directory. I'm a little more cautious about this kind of thing than most, but I *really* *don't* *like* *installers*. I can't tell what else they're installing on my system, and that's not okay.

2) Good display of data.

BUT

3) Requires mouse usage. A lot of mouse usage. For pretty much everything that you'll do on a regular basis. There are a few hotkeys, but you can't even assign projects/contexts/due dates without touching a mouse. And the buttons are *tiny*.

I'm not anti-mouse, but I -- like more and more people --do a lot of work on a laptop. Touchpads aren't a great alternative to exposed keyboard access. This is pretty much a desktop application.

Along similar lines:
4) No applescript support.
5) No services menu support.

These seem like minor points until you understand their use. I'll give you a hint: Install Quicksilver (or Launchbar), and get in the habit of using a "put this note in my inbox" command. That's pretty much a pre-requisite for a GTD "Mind-Like-Water" system.

And yet, the application requires the user to use the application the way the application designers intended, rather than how it would best fit with an optimal workflow.

I can't say I'm surprised: it's a rare software designer who's good enough to really open things up to the user. I have yet to find a single application in this marketspace that really does that.

The closest yet is OmniOutliner, even though reproducing this functionality via applescript is insanely *slow*.
