Very simple. Works very well. Good fun. My only issue is an inability to import my own sounds; but I've experienced this with other apps. previously, so hey!

Have you tried to put the sound files in ~/Library/Sounds/ ?This should work.
From the readme:
To choose your own sound as alert:
1) open the Library folder in your home folder
2) create a new folder with the name Sounds (if it does not already exist)
3) copy your sound file into this Sounds folder
in DockTimer´s preferences, choose the sound from the little pull down menu.
