We take bug reports seriously, and serious bug reports very seriously. We received a message reporting this bug from macsolu on October 29, Saturday afternoon around 2:00 PM and within an hour had replied asking how to trigger the reported behavior. While waiting for a reply, we did additional study of and testing Bookdog but could not find any way that Bookdog might behave as described by macsolu. Before giving up at 12:49 AM Sunday morning, we learned that macsolu was in business as a Macintosh consultant, so we sent macsolu another message offering to hire macsolu to help us fix this.
On Thursday November 3 we received a reply from macsolu, saying that macsolu would be travelling and unavailable to provide any assistance for the next several months, but not a single clue regarding macsolu's hardware or how to trigger the problem. Very strange.
We hereby offer a $100 U.S. dollar reward to the first user who can tell us how using Bookdog can trigger 30 minutes of thrashing and inability to launch other applications. You may have to work with us some, sending us your bookmarks file, hardware and software description. We have access to all Mac models at Apple's lab in Cupertino. We will pay via Paypal or a paper check, as preferred by the winner.
So, download Bookdog and try it. If macsolu is correct, you can win $100. If macsolu's report was a Halloween prank, you'll get a great application for sorting and managing your bookmarks with a three-year warranty.
Actually you're going to get a great application in both cases, because if we can reproduce such a bug we're going to fix it.
Sincerely,
Jerry Krinock
