Don't Be So Quick To Criticize One Star Rating

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

I think Mozilla is great and good for the Mac platform. However, this product is useless to me until importing contacts from Entourage or Apple's address book is either automated or much easier to use. I just spent an hour moving tags up and down hit finish and the contact name filled with email addresses. It's too much work. Otherwise, it looks very interesting but the address book needs to work before it can be taken seriously. Sorry, I'd like to rate it higher but I can't.

Where are the Grown-ups? - Jeff Mincey

It's clear that you and others simply don't understand what a product review is all about. I can appreciate that any e-mail client that lacks the particular feature you want will not fill the bill -- and that for you this is a deal-breaker. Fine. But that does NOT mean this is a one-star product in general.

Don't you understand that a one-star rating means that a product is utterly MISERABLE and awful -- if not even dangerous to run? It doesn't mean that it's excellent for what it was designed to do and simply falls short in a few areas.

You and others need to disabuse yourself of the notion that "Not useful to me" equals "terrible product." One has nothing to do with the other. Plenty of products are superb and yet not particularly useful to me -- does that mean they deserve one-star ratings then?

Do you REALLY think Thunderbird is an utterly abysmal or terrible software product, or do you instead recognize it has a lot going for it but simply doesn't mean YOUR particular needs? If the latter, then why do you rate this product so poorly?

If Thunderbird is a one-star product, I would hate to think what you would rate the truly awful products out there.

Where are the grown-ups around here who understand what product reviews are all about?

Don't Be So Quick To Criticize One Star Rating - Bob Jacobson

I agree regarding the inability to import Entourage and Apple Mail addresses, mail, and Rules. Who the hell needs imports from Eudora and Netscape? Gimme a break. These guys want to be taken seriously, then let's get serious about migration from the two largest audiences of potential users: Entourage and Apple Mail users!

Just for the record, I agree too. I just disagree that this shortcoming justifies a one-star rating across the board for this application.
