OEM Update - macdad614

Why is someone suggesting that GC is 55MB? The dl is 7.8MB, and I have not had any problem upgrading my registered GC and keeping track of the fact that I am a registered user. Did he/she intend to indicate that a 55KB patch was available?

OEM Update - macjörg

It is a not a patch, it is like GC Complete download without order forms and all languages Read Me's. The included GC OEM application package is identical to the GC Complete one but for slight changes in one resource to acknowledge OEM licenses.

GC from gc572xcomplete.dmg (54.8 MB) will ask you for a serial number, GC from gcx572oem.dmg (53.3 GB) will identify as registered to "Apple Bundle Customer".

Get GC (w/o User Guides) or GC complete (w/ User Guides) for testing or if you are a registered user, and GC OEM if GC OEM v5.0 or up has been bundled with your Mac.

Why is this relevant? - Dana Nau

Maybe I'm missing something fundamental here, but I don't see how the above instructions are relevant for most users. I just downloaded 5.7.2 directly and replaced my copy of 5.7.1 with 5.7.2, with no problems whatsoever.

Why are these folks (macattorney and macjörg) trying to push an app that is 7 times larger? Are they attempting to test a virus or spyware on unsuspecting Mac users? What's the deal? The 7.8MB version works fine! - no, GREAT!

OEM Update - macjörg

1. If you really believe that Thorsten Lemke produces and distributes spyware or viruses you should not download or install any of his programs, no matter how big or small the download might be.

2. OEM download is about the same size as comparable retail download, in fact it is 1.5 MB smaller (as of v5.7.2). Why do you insist in comparing download size of a partial distribution (= w/o user guides; the one you seem to have downloaded) with size of a complete distribution (= w/ user guides in all supported languages)?

3. For Apple OEM Bundle contains the complete distribution, Thorsten Lemke obviously decided to release OEM updates exactly the same: complete w/ all user guides. If you dislike his decision please argue with him.

FWIW:
http://www.lemkesoft.com/en/gc_oem.htm
now offers the latest 7.5.3 OEM package "GraphicConverter X OEM 5.0-5.7.2 to 5.7.3", a 53.5 MB download (1.4 MB smaller than 54.9 MB complete package w/ user guides).

OEM Update - Kodac--2008

The "OEM" version is ONLY for people who got GraphicConverter pre-installed with their mac. If you bought GC then DON'T download this version, the extra megs won't help you.
