I don't get it. Isn't this already built into the Energy Saver System Preference? Just open it and click on the "Schedule..." button and violá!

Almost... - brilor--2008

but the system preference does NOT allow a date to be specified. If I want my mac to shutdown on a specific date (say 2 weeks in the future), I'm out of luck.
