Downloaded disk image, but the OS tells me the application is a Man page. Tried the download 4 times - no go.

I get the same thing. Maybe it only affects people who have ManOpen installed.

The .1 in 1.0.1 is being interpreted as a filename extension. Try renaming it to "Goliath 1" or "Goliath 1.0.1.app"

Does not seem to work with 10.4 -

I experienced the same problem. Proposed soution: Select Goliath, File->Info, then select Open With: choose: Goliath. Strange enough, Goliath is listed as an option for opening Goliath
