The "Check for Update" function worked OK for me. Mac OS 10.4.2 and Adobe Reader 7.0.3. I installed the update and things appeared normal until I checked the version number via Command-I and it still showed version 7.0.3. So I took a chance and did a restart and guess what I found...the old 7.0.3 still intact AND a new folder with 7.0.5. So after confirming 7.0.5 was working normally, I trashed the old 7.0.3 folder.

I had the same experience. I had 7.0.3. The update installed 7.0.0! After restarting, and again trying to update, I still was no better off. I deleted the 7.0.0 folder and checked for updates via the 7.0.3 version itself, and there was no update available.I think that probably Adobe acrobat upgraded to 7.0.5, so they renamed all the versions of its components, like Reader, to 7.0.5 even though they didn't actually change the version number.
Sloppy programming for a company this big.

Well, I still have 7.0.3, but the installer gave me 7.0.0, not 7.0.5.Is Adobe deliberately trying to alienate Mac users?
