Vector NTI was bought by Invitrogen and is now FREE for non-commercial (i.e. academic) users. VNTI used to be around $3000, like MV. The one drawback to this is that VNTI doesn't run well with Tiger yet. But once it does, it'll be tough competiton for the folks at MacVector.

Their website's information is indeed very confusing. The NTI page says they are working on a Tiger patch, and the FAQ says that there is no development for Tiger. So I wrote to them. This is what I heard:"Sorry for the confusion. We are still evaluating whether or not it will be technically feasible, as the web page mentions.

Been a few years now....no updates for Mac. Just saw on MacVector, Inc.'s website that Version 10.0 is coming. Looks like it's going to be impressive!Thursday, March 06 2008 @ 03:03 PM PST

Vector NTI won't be updated any time soon for Tiger. Develper has stated that they will not develop for Tiger or any future Mac OS version. That's why a number of our uses here at NHGRI are moving from VectorNTI to MacVector, Sequencher, Etc...Reply to This
