So far so good. Printing works fine, CPU usage is fine. What is different is that this isn't a simple driver upgrade - is also installs a suite of applications called HP Image Zone. Some are unnecessary as e.g. iPhoto does them and does them better, but the Panorama Stitcher (though basic) does a pretty good job in terms of the end result - better than the Photostitch software you get from Canon with their digital cameras (just nowhere near the same no. of options). I haven't tried scanning properly yet (and rarely use that function anyway), but it seems similar to before... maybe faster.

All-in-all, not a bad upgrade as far as I can tell. Still docking one star for how long it took HP to get a reasonable driver out!

would you mind trying FUS and reporting the results? i'll be surprised if they fixed it, but one can always hope :-). let me know if you need instructions on how to test it. the symptom is that when you switch users, you can no longer print until you reboot (or use one of the workarounds mentioned in other comments). thanks!

I am away for a week from today. Post a method for testing and I'll try it when I come back. Cheers.

In Sys Preferences:Accounts, create a new user, say "Fred".
Under Login Options in the Accounts panel, check "Enable fast user switching".
Then, in the User menu in top right of the menu bar, select "Login Window".
Login to Fred without logging out of your normal account.
Unless FUS has been fixed, printing should now hang under either user.
Getting printing going again requires either restarting, or sometimes restarting HP Communications will fix it (sometimes need to kill HP Director as well).
If it's fixed, you should be able to switch back and forth between users, with printing working for both users.

Thanks,
Phillip

Sorry for the delay in testing this... and unfortunately, nope - this is not fixed. It still hangs when using a different user to that selected as first login. (Force) Quitting and re-launching the HP Comms process fixes it, so you will still need to run the aio script to be able to use the printer with FUS.

I have tried for a week to download this upgrade, without success. Whenever I try, I get an error message that the download page failed to open, whether I am using Safari or Internet Explorer. Any suggestions?
