Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

I sent following email to author today;

Has some features I'd like to use and interesting idea. But, I find it too complicated. I just spent about 1/2 hour trying to figure it out and was at a loss. Configuration and preferences are too confusing. Like DragThing, Butler suffers from preferences overload. I tried to wade through it to find the features I wanted to use and exclude the rest, and did not get anywhere. Perhaps if I had hours to spare to figure out this one application I would get somewhere, but I do not have hours to spend setting it up.

Complicated? - Dantre

One doesn't have to use all the features.. this is a fantastic piece of software and I don't know where I would be without it.

I appreciate reviews like this. Very democratic. They give voice to the simpleminded among us.

Whereas Zeph ingages in childish name-calling and thinks it makes him look learned. Hahahaha.

I agree. I am a successful writer and am not considered stupid in any circles. Right brained people like myself here in "Hollyweird" are a huge chunk of Apple's market but we generally are not however, interested or willing to spend so much time diddling with setup. The overload of preferences in both DragThing and Butler are no doubt fine for techies and the wonderful folks who write software for the rest of us. I just wish they would remember and respect that we just want to USE the software, not literally hours tweaking it before we can. When someone loads music to their ipod or puts a DVD in the player, they just want to sit back and enjoy. I don't expect them to read music and tune the player, like an instrument. I'm asking for the same ease of use. No more.
