Used Product For: 1-6 months

RealPlayer works fine. Much of the time. But I have discovered that RealOne Player seems to work fine _all_ the time.

Example: RollingStone videos just won't play on RealPlayer.

Can anyone explain why not?

What is the difference between the two?

Thanks.

Does manually configuring transport preferences in RealPlayer to disable all transports except http fix the problem for you?

No. I just tried it several times, and changing the prefs doesn't solve the problem. The video window (for example) opens up, looks as if it's going to do something interesting, then closes, leaving only the little sound player, which then plays for five seconds, but silently.

It looks like a video driver issue with current version to me. They made huge changes to code making it a pure cocoa application, taking most of the code from Helix player (their opensource part)

I suggest you check their forums and "support" page. Also it has "reset realplayer" option at help menu makes like clean re install.

Realone is version 9, this is V 10 - Ilgaz

Real moved back to naming their "player" as "Player" simply. Realone is their Version 9 which is written using Carbon, this one is written using Cocoa and integrates Quicktime Framework as well as Webkit (count as safari) web integration, e.g. a simple but designed for multimedia browser in it.
