Seems to work ok here for a Lifedrive on a 10.4.2 system. Syncing now appears to actually work.

Eureka! - macmunkey
No, not the vacuum cleaner by a long shot. I had pretty much given up all hope of ever getting my Zire to be anything more than a glorified little black book after reading all the negative comments (and experiencing same for myself with previous versions on earlier operating systems) about failures-to-install, hot sync problems and everything else ad nauseum. But I finally decided to make one last lunge for the life preserver and, after doing a little research, downloaded Palm Desktop 4.2 Rev A since it looked like the most promising possibility. Well, I guess I should have know it would work just like everything else ( at least for software written by reasonably-major developers) I've tried on my macmini running OS10.4.2… absolutely flawlessly. Installation (into my personal users folder, despite the fact I'm also the only one on it) was a breeze, and plugging in the Zire resulted in an effortless and accurate hot-sync. Was also able to easily merge data long-archived from the Palm III (running PD2.6.3) that went into cardiac arrest after I inadvertantly took it into the hot shop at a nuclear reactor a couple of years ago. I gotta give it 4 stars only because I haven't yet really explored many of the features; and I'm betting it would be five if I waited a couple of weeks to offer this feedback..Reply to This
