So tell me, how much has iTunes evolved from version 1.0?
Hardly, all the important features never saw the light of day, like the ability to actually PLAY anything other then MP3 and AAC.
FLAC is a wide known format, why do we have to rely on buggy quicktime plugins to support it? oh right, apple has nothing to gain from it. instead the reinvent the wheel and add apple lossless support. hmmm, kinda like microsoft reinvented the wheel with WMA.
Speaking of wich, how about some support for that format? now i rely on a expensive piece of shareware for that. oh no, then apple has to swallow its pride and beg microsoft for the codecs. we consumers are not worth such humiliation are we?
And what about skinning support? Do we realy have to look at something we dont like JUST because apple made the skin?
And what about LAME encoding without crummy plugins? the encoding algorithems for MP3 date back from the time iTunes wasnd even called iTunes yet. oh yeah, apple wants us to encode in AAC so screw updating those outdated MP3 algorithems eh?
and yes, i rate iTunes 1 star for the idiot fanboys like you who cant see past the apple brand and fail to see the many flaws and the fact that its way behind on players like Winamp.

So why not use WinAmp? Knock yourself out. Enjoy, go give it a stellar review in the appropriate forum.FLAC is not a "wide known format". That is why the support for it is not there. I have heard of it, but I am betting most users of iTunes, or even WInAmp never have. You have an "expensive" piece of shareware for it? Well then, by definition, it is not shareware. Why the hell would I want to load up my computer with dozens of different codecs for every piece of poorly written software out there? I've worked with codecs on Windows, and it is silly to do things that way.
Additionally, if you want to get into encoding debates, you really should go to a digital audiophile message board and do it there. Most people in this forum do fine with the lossy encoding of mp3. At 128, I notice some loss, but if I pump it up just a bit to the 192, I notice no difference in quality from cd, and I have a decent ear, better than most. Additionally, mp3 will go on almost all portable players so, even if it is "outdated" nearly everyone can use it. Which leads me to my final point: I really don't think you understand the idea behind iTunes, give people a really easy to use piece of software that most people can use. It works pretty damn well at that. Of course, if you are just trolling, I can understand that too, I would just think you could find a better place to troll than here.
