After I upgraded to Tiger the program ceased to function, and the developer and refused to answer my emails for help :-(

You've got some other conflict. I use HourWorld every day with OS 10.4.4 and have experienced no problems whatsoever. And I've written the author a couple times over the several years I've been a registered user and he's always answered promptly. Your experience is atypical.
