Apple releases a Java Security Update AND a Java App.
So, update current Java and then install the Java App or does Java App already have security update. I'm confused Apple!!

which and when? - skbecker
Your reply is most helpful in clarifying a contradiction/confusion that bothered me when Software Update beckoned, and I installed the security update AND the java update. Now my Java folder in Utilities (in Applications) contains Java 1.3.1 plugin settings AND Java 1.4.2 plugin settings. But I'm running OS 10.3.9.I noticed this when I tried to open a site requiring Java (which worked fine before the Update of Death on September 19) and couldn't.
Sorry to bother you, but what do I do? Applet Launcher and Java Web Start are also from September 19. When I tried to get to the site using Applet Launcher, my mac rang a bell, so that's the wrong application too, of course. And, according to VersionTracker, there is no Java application on my machine!!
Do I just trash the whole Java folder and reinstall the correct Java version for OS 10.3.9? But what is that, and where?
Thank you in advance!
