Completely trashed my G4 PowerBook, after running all the tools except optimise followed all the instruction to the letter (including a back up, Thankfully). Then ran optimisation basically made my hard drive disappear!!
Nothing would restore it, original tiger installer disks, disk warrior, disk utility, even the other tech tools, my only saving grace was an old OS 9.2 installer which re-initialised it.

Buyer Beware - nicksrick
9/13/05The Micromat Inc. Tech support sent me a link to download the full installer of TechTool Pro 4.0.5. I was to uninstall TTP and then reinstall it for a "clean install".
The TechTool Pro 4 Installer.app appeared to be accomplishing it's tasks, both for unistallation and later installation. Registration was completed.
The prograam was opened and re-registered.
The Maintenance option in the Performance battery was chosen, and the computer restarted by booting on the EDrive, as before. Just as before the TechTool Pro icon in the dock bounced up and down, but no window opened. None of the choices in the upper bar were viable. I exited the eDrive by clicking on System Preferences on the Dock, choosing the Startup drive, and re-starting.
There appears to be a major bug in this program.
I requested a link to a full installer of the previous versionn of TTP 4.0.4 that worked fine until an attempt to update:
"Could you send me a link to download the previous verision 4.0.4 (that I had before the upgrade) so that I could be able to get back to where I was before my increasingly greater frustration with your product?"
We'll see what the response will be.
Rick
