Disappointing

Product Platform: WinNT,Win95,Win98,WinME,WinXP,Win2k

Used Product For: Over One Year

I use VersionTracker for both Windows and Mac systems. I can definitely say that the Mac version is vastly better than the Windows version.

Currently the Windows version is a major disappointment. Although following the tips on this page removed some of the duplicate entries, it is still reporting multiple versions of Norton AntiSpam and Norton Internet Security (6 copies of the latter appear in the list). Not only that, when I click the + sign next to one, the last one in the list expands! Weird.

Finally, there are a lot of major programs missing. Anyone heard of: Picasa, QuickTime, Sonic, Microsoft .Net, iView, Dell Media Experience, Creative, Corel Painter? Not only that, but many -- if not all -- of these are actually on the VersionTracker website! A lot of the "small" programs that are currently untracked are on the VT website. So I'm not understanding why so many programs are drawing blanks.

See my comments inside. I appreciate your feedback - testingqqq

I did install Norton AntiSpam and Internet Security. In the untracked view, it showed up two items as Norton AntiSpam and six items as Norton Internet Security. This is because the vendor chooses to use the same name for different suites. These suites actually have different components in them. It’s not a bug.

In term of the last one in the list expands, it is a bug. It’ll be fixed in the future releases. Thanks for catching that and pointing out for me. I appreciate it.

Picasa: I just submit it to our content team. It'll be tracked as soon as they process it.

QuickTime: It should be tracked by now. I can see it in my watch list.

Sonic: Do you mean Sonic RecordNow!? It's in my watch list.

Microsoft .Net: Since MS .Net is a suite. We'll have a mechanism to track it in VTPro 4.0 release.

iView: Do you mean iView MediaPro? If you do, I think we track it already. I just downloaded and installed it, and it showed up as tracked in my watch list.

Dell Media Experience,
Creative,
Corel Painter
I notified our content team. They will track them if they can.

Hoping - mprewitt99

Many of the products I mentioned do not have current version numbers as of today, but I hope they will be added soon.

Regarding iView, on this particular computer I am using the free iView Catalog Reader. The current version is 2.6.3.0. The free version is a separate product -- basically a free browsing client -- and should be tracked separately.

Another issue I am having is items in the list composed on strings of apparently random characters. For example, there is one named "g--w0^Ôwÿÿÿÿ*^ÔwÀ´Ôw" (the two hyphens are characters I can't figure out how to type). When I click the plus sign, iTunes appears at the top of the list. There is a separate entry for iTunes, and when I click that plus sign nothing happens. There is another one named "Ù<Ôw" and clicking the plus for that brings "Microsoft Application Error Reporting" to the top of the list.
