While there are options to not include betas or not include paid upgrades, I think it would be a nice feature if VT could be told to not show any new version that requires a newer version of the OS.
Until I buy Tiger, I have no need to download anything that requires Tiger. There may be folks out there still running Jaguar and they don't need anything that requires 10.3 or better unless they are booted from a Mac running 10.3.x.

OS X version sensitivity - JohnnyMacintosh
Right. It's not just risk-avoidance behavior to delay upgrading from one version of the OS to another right away.
Here is a concrete example of that in my case. I have TiVo and TiVo has not updated its TiVo Desktop software for Mac since before Tiger came out and the switch from Rendez-vous to Bonjour took place.
TiVo ability to play your iTunes songs and do slideshows of your iPhoto albums only works if you are running Mac OS 10.3 (Panther) on your Mac. The TiVo will not play those application's content if you are running Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger). Consequently, I have two computers running 10.4 and one computer still running 10.3.
It would be nice if VersionTracker would not only hold back from requesting upgrading OS components you cannot run until you upgrade your OS - but would also keep this info separate if you are running different OS versions on different computers. Like in my case, many people will upgrade most of their computers at some point but still hang back with upgrading one or two of their oldest ones. Having more than one computer gives them the flexibility to do so, although in a perfect world everyone would upgrade right away.
The 3 reasons to not upgrade to a new OS that come to mind right off-hand are:
- version tortion stress (as in example just given)
- older computer(s) might not have enough RAM, speed, proper CPU or other necessary hardware to be able to handle new OS
- cost of upgrading OS on all computers might not be affordable at the moment - though upgrading some might be very desirable

Absolutely agree with this comment. I have OSX 10.3.9, and get really frustrated at this time when the majosity of the updates on Version Tracker are for 10.4.I am not interested, and it wastes a lot of my time. Please only advise me of updates for max 10.3.9

Just starting to use VT and am using OS 10.3.9 for various reasons. Agree completely. Can option be offered to either choose version of OS or have VT pick this up automatically?AC
