Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 1-6 months

Recommend Product: NO

I don't care if my apps are phoning home. They're all legit. Little snitch also flags anything that just needs to make an internet connection to do its work, like web browswers and e-mailers. Duh.

The main value of this app will manifest itself when real SPYWARE becomes a problem on the OSX platform. Since there is no spyware for the Mac as yet, this little utility doesn't strike me as having much to do that's useful, unless yopu have some pirated software that you DON'T want to have phoning home.

$24.95 seems a little too steep for something that doesn't really do much of anything useful for most users. I finally uninstalled the demo version.

wow, gene, we're so proud of you. Next you just have to actually GET what the point of this tool is. No, NOT for giving alleged "legit's" a warm and fuzzy feeling inside, sorry. And by default the most stuff is already listed, such as browser's and the like. No idea what you've been mucking around in the prefs. After two days MAX you don't hardly ever hear from LS anymore, unless of course when a "little surprise" sneaks up.

Great tool. Very insightful on how many apps access the net (for WHATEVER reason) without telling or asking you first.

I will admit tho, that I don't really think the price is all that justified. 5-10 bucks would suffice I think... then again, I'm not a programmer, so don't ask me what's involved in developing something like this, but there is always a FELT value that I think the programmer should consider and in this case I doubt it's at $25 for the majority of users.

Gene, it appears that you criticize the app for doing what it is supposed to do: report *all* net activity to you. It then allows *you* (the Mac's owner) to decide if that's ok or not -- not someone else. I feel that you have rated the product unjustly, and simply because you do not sufficiently undertand what it is for.

Wrt the price tag - I simply can't understand the way people think that they complain about that. Either the price is right, and you buy it. Or it isn't and you don't. The market then decides if the price is right. No-one forces you to buy it. If you want something, pay the price. It's there for a reason.
