Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 6-12 months

Recommend Product: NO

I had a problem with my iMac G5 (hung on a black screen before fully starting up). Ran Apple Hardware Test, which reported no problem. Than I ran TechTool Deluxe. It ran for 7 hours, when I accidentally found a report on the web which makes it abundantly clear that TT screws up your machine when you use it with Tiger.

Still trying to sort things out.

Do not use with Tiger -

installed 4.0.5 and booted up holding the c key and it screwed my duel G-5 up so bad I had to reformat the hd and lost a lot of data. I was pissed and sent it back and when i called them they know about the problem, but they still advertise it to work with tiger. I haven't had to reformat the hd in years and it took a long time to get the stuff I had backed-up, but still lost a lot of data and pictures. apple told me to reformat and said 4.0.5 isn't working with tiger. I always used norton, but they don't support tiger. My mac was running great when all this happened and I only did it to check for frags on the hd. I don't know what to use if something is wrong and to defrag the hd.
