Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

It is only my opinion from my experience.

Popcorn by Roxio is a sham. I installed it on my G4 with OS 10.4 and it would open until I draged something to burn on to the window. Then it would close and I would get the following message "The Application Popcorn quite unexpectedly after it was reopened." The product box tells you it works on “Mac OS 10.2 or later” but that is false as it does not work, with out going to their web site and getting the proper update for OS 10.4 Many software makers print up an external label that is placed on the product to give you a heads up. No such customer care or concern here.

Roxio’s web site is a misleading maze , you go from page to page searching for useful information, often being guided back to the page you started on. Once you find your way through this misleading maze and try to download the update, it does not allow the download, as it refuses to accept your information while telling you it is valid In my case after eight attempts I quite trying.

God help you if you want to use this product on a weekend, as there is no tech support on weekends. Worse still, Roxeo’s offices and the bulk of its sales are in the US, but Tech support is a big fat toll call away, in Canada.. This adds insult to injury. You purchased a product that does not work, that you cannot up date on their site and you have to pay additional fees for both the toll call and Tech support that is not open on weekends for remedies.
Aren't we special.

Yup - me too. This is the SECOND time I bought Roxio's product and it does not work. And I have to say that, yes, my money just went down the tubes as well because on obth occasions they have had NO INTENTION on helping me or giving me my money back.

Has ANYONE found anything useful? I keep trying to upgrade but for some reason they are not registering my original registration but it seems as though in reading these comments that it doesn't matter.

Geesh! I am SOOO glad I spent almost $3K on a computer with a DVD Burner specifically so that I can back up my DVDs and programs to do so and I STILL cannot do it! Are there ANY other programs for Macs that are good at this?

A lot of people really like dvdremaster, although I have yet to try it myself, they actually have a demo so you can check it out. The price is better than popcorn and it offers much more in the area of selecting what content to include-the pro version even has a preview window so you can tell what your tossing out. User reviews on VT are very favorable many claim the quality is much better and it also is supposed to be faster. Come to think of it I have not used popcorn in a while(I am a bit torn after reading about dvdremaster-I'm not sure how upset I'll be if it fails) hope that helps

after i upgraded to 10.4 i had similar issues with Popcorn. this is dissapointing, because it worked fairly well with 10.3.

Apple always seems to f-up their customers with untested OS upgrades. every upgrade they put out seems to cause numerous issues, from software compatibility to wifi problems.

Im about ready to get rid of the last Mac i have and stick with the PCs from now on.

stupid to blame Apple for Roxio's shortcomings.
I bought Toast 4/5/6, but I will not buy Toast 7. Is Toast or Popcorn the problem? NO. Is Apple the problem? No.

ROXIO is the problem.

the un-navigable website? the impossible registration/update/upgrade procedures? the lack of any help at all for customers? ALL TRUE.

IT IS CHEAPER TO BUY TOAST STAND-ALONE THAN TO UPGRADE IT.

I won't buy anything from them & won't upgrade what I already own, not anymore - to do so would be to encourage them to continue treating their customers like lepers.

Thanks for nothing, Roxio!

It wasn't working because it wasn't supported by Tiger at the time. I had the same problem. I recommend downloading the version 1.0.3, which solved the issue for me. It's a great product and I haven't seen anything easier for the same job on the web for us mac users

1.0 or 1.01 needs to be upgraded to 1.02 or the latest 1.03 for that problem to be resolved with popcorn quiting when dragging a VIDEO_TS file. I also have a G4 tower and with the patch it works better than anything else out there. Toast 7 is expensive if you don't need all the other features Popcorn works just fine.
