fact is, ffmpex fails to complete alot of tasks, and offers no support when your file just won't transcode.Sunday, February 12 2006 @ 10:44 AM PST

OH PLEASE. I've used everything on the market trying to standardize on something. Yes, ffmpeg is "free" and will compress to several formats--BUT, it sucks so bad to use. I mean really, in a professional environment where time is money ffmpeg is NOT answer. Setting up a compression takes far longer than the compression itself, and because the user interface is so bad, there's a very good chance that you didn't get something selected correctly and you have to do it all over again (several times). Not to mention that it's a pain to install, having to go track down other open source applications from other sources to make it even function. Sorry, I gave it try and I much prefer software that does more than do a task for free, I need software and helps me complete my tasks and keeps me sane. So far, the best answer I've found is Popwire Compression master, it's not perfect but it's the best you will find.Wednesday, May 10 2006 @ 09:49 AM PDT
