WMV problems?

Feedback Type:  Commentary

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

I often get the following error when trying to play .wmv files:

main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc 'WMV3'. VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

Usually the sound plays OK, but not the video. Is there any way to make this work? Or am I just out of luck?

Unfortunately, anything with that particular crappy Windows-only codec won't play on any Mac. There is a solution, however clumsy. And it did work for me (although I was converting an MPEG rather than a WMV).
