Maybe I'm being dense, but don't see the point of your complaint. You had a problem, but didn't bother contacting the developer for help, instead choosing to vent in a forum where you otherwise have no reason to expect that your problem will get addressed. The developer nonetheless goes out of his way to help you and solve your problem. In return for his kindness, you slag on his product (thus continuing a practice with which you evidently have lots of experience), just because he didn't update a FAQ for an issue that no longer affects you (and in fact affects very few people overall)? And this for a product with which you otherwise seem to have no complaint?
Based on my personal experience with SuperDuper! on 10.4.x, it works just fine, so I can see why the developer chose not to take time out from working hard on a new version to release a fix for a bug in the OS that affects very few people, and is easily worked around with the currently shipping product. Obviously you see differently, and you're entitled to your opinion, irrespective of how in or out of touch with reality that opinion may be.

Assumption of inaction/inactivity. - dnanian
You seem to be assuming that we didn't work to find a programmatic workaround for this particular issue. The fact is, we did -- even before your original comments -- and that fix will be included in v2.0, when released. We haven't released an update for v1.5.x that includes the fix because -- based on our own analysis of our support requests, forum posts and questions -- the problem isn't encountered often enough, given our users' usage patterns, to justify shutting down v2.0 development, updating v1.5.x with the change, and running it through our pre-release testing. I'm sorry if that's frustrating, but given that there is a workaround, it seemed to be the best way to allocate our resources.
That said, the fact remains that you do need to use the workaround, and I forgot to update the FAQ. I've corrected that; thanks again for the reminder.
Note, again, that I didn't call you for "PR" reasons. I called because you were having trouble, and helping you on VersionTracker was (and is) an inappropriate use of its forums, which don't have a means of notifying users that comments have been posted, and aren't designed for that kind of thing.
I strongly encourage all users to feel free to post whatever they want about SuperDuper! up here on VersionTracker, positive or negative. But -- if you want support -- please *also* stop by the Shirt Pocket forums or send mail to support -at- shirt-pocket -dot- com. You'll get a much more rapid response.

SuperDuper can't compress with Tiger - mcgroarty_dotmac
"just because he didn't update a FAQ for an issue that no longer affects you (and in fact affects very few people overall)?"It affects anyone running Tiger, which is quite a few people. And it still affects me in that I don't have the promised functionality (compressed backups) and need to consistently use a work-around instead.
I'm annoyed because the developer called me on the phone to talk at length about the problem, but still hasn't fixed it. Fixing the FAQ should have been a stop gap measure while he got on the horn with Apple and found a real solution. If he couldn't resolve it, the program shouldn't offer to do something by default (compressed backups) that the author knows it can't do with Tiger. Instead, he walked away once I retracted my negative review.
I switched to the Mac because I wanted a narrowly defined platform so I didn't have to deal with surprises when my hardware or OS differs slightly from the developers'. The author hasn't got a good excuse for his product to remain problematic with Tiger.
And you're right that I've slagged another product (PocketMac). I've added positive reviews of a few exceptional programs that better typify the Mac experience.
