Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: YES

Good features, seems stable. Interface is a little daunting at first, lots of menus, lots of controlls for lots of apps, this is a good thing, just daunting at first. Some prefs would be nice on how the window is arranged, and the font size etc, small things though.
My only thumbs down is the inability to test the multiple disks feature with the trial version. Perhaps its a technical issue, but I think this would be my main use for the program and not being able to test it means I may not end up buying it. We'll see in thirty days.
Overall though, good job.

Hi Hunteraz, Thanks for your comments. (thanks MacHound too). Yes, it can be a little complicated at first... it's designed as the "big brother" to EyeTV in many ways. EyeTV is deliberately simple, somewhat stripped of features that could be added easily, in order to make it easy to use. iEye Captain is not designed as a replacement to EyeTV's own software, but as a toolbox that you pull out when you need to do something that EyeTV can't do. You may never use aliases, but that feature is there for users that need it. I don't use every tool in my toolbox, but I don't know what I would do without needle-nose pliers...

As for multiple archives, it was primarily a support decision... it is the area that demands the greatest amount of support time, and the greatest amount of program knowledge on the part of the user. A few casual clicks could cause very confusing results and missed or even deleted recordings if the user doesn't know what he or she is doing. I would rather restrict this feature to those who are serious enough to buy and have had some time to get familiar with the program. And of course, the dollars really do help cover the time it takes to support this feature.

As for the interface... more interface customization (like font sizes) is under consideration for a version update. At the moment my top priority is features and functionality in as many countries as possible.

Thanks,
Graham Jones.
