Very good easy to use tool. Not sure why a standalone installer is necessary, but works well and is free!

Nice - Tyaris Major

The installer places some new CoreImage filters into /Library(/Application Support/BeLight Software/), which most of us could probably do manually, but should not be expected of everyone. The installer does the right thing and only expects the user to have admin access, not root access, and doesn't ask for a password if you are in fact an admin-level user. This is actually the correct way to deploy apps like this. I'd probably be annoyed if it only installed the app (and there's plenty of those around), but in this case I agree with the vendor.

This seems like one of those "why would you not have it" apps, like a latter-day PixelNhance. An excellent way for a company to introduce itself to users who may not otherwise be aware of their products. Frankly, I wouldn't begrudge the company from charging a couple of dollars for this since, yes, CoreImage is doing all the image processing work, but the app (and the bonus filters, although they're probably donated from the company's other apps) still needs to be developed, written, tested, etc. Not to mention going to the trouble of incorporating iPhoto integration. The fact that it's free is a very nice touch.
