I have used Bookends for a number of years now, watching it grow, improve and enhance. My contacts with the developer have been excellent; Jon is on top of the feedback he gets. Once I was having trouble getting started creating my own database filter to work at my university (this was before those filters were enhanced and developed more through Bookends). With just a few questions to Jon, within a day or so, he took the time and effort to send me a filter that worked really well. The ability to import citations so easily is a big reason I left EndNote which I thought was sluggish, confusing and not responsive to user feedback. The newest versions of Bookends have an excellent GUI in my opinioon. I use Bookends with Nisus Express and found them to work very well (Nisus is another Mac developer I've been very impressed with). This is a program that can be a wonderful addition to the needs of academics and scholars.
