my mac with osx 10.4.2 worked well with HP all-in-one psc 2510 under the 6.3.4 software in wireless mode. Downloading and installing the upgrade is ennoying in that the HP setup assistant automatically starts for 7 pages of information and then does not quit. No way to get rid of unless force-quit, but reboot, or switching user brings it back.
Oddly enough I am able to print and fax and...etc.
Since I installed the HP new drivers I lost connection with my blue-tooth headset and there is no way to get this back other than un-installing the HP software.
Stick with the old software untill HP has debugged.

hp setup assistant does not quit - ronck
HP provided efficient email service. Their answer was that the psc 2510 used in wireless mode presented this phenomena and when printing worked as advertised the HP installer should be trashed. This really did solve the issues.Sunday, August 14 2005 @ 11:24 PM PDT

hp setup assistant does not quit - anwhite03_dotmac
I have the same exact problem: the HP Setup Assistant will not complete and will not quit. When I Force Quit, the HP setup software or the Install software before has evidently has put a lock on the printer queue and the printer will not print. If I reboot the Mac the HP Setup Assistant starts and insists it be completed. But on the 8th page and everything entered correctly it will not "Finish", instead: perpetual spinning beachball - and no printing!
