MickMadSoft, dude-the metronome is off - the timing is not tight - if a person's CPU clock cycles alternate (and they can) then your software should compensate, just like the clicks in GarageBand, Logic, ProTools, Live, Reason and every other host musicians apps. Maybe a Slave to Host mode would help to straighten this out. Also, the tuner generates a tone that doesn't harmonically resonate with most stringed instruments, and that is why people are saying it sounds weird. When you tune you need pitch usually at 440 with no warble or variations. The idea of a portable tuner/metronome is old-hat, and there are several already out there. Also, if you are going to use the 'i' moniker it presumes that this little app will function inside Apple's iLife suite, namely Garageband. Since your app has no slave function it does not fit the bill, and probably ought to be renamed or re-written to work with GB (remember that GB already has a tight metronome and awesome tuner, so if you do re-work your app, you will have to improve on Apple's work) I think this is a beginner's stab at using REALBasic, and he got excited and posted it here. Perhaps when your programming skills are a little more refined, and you can handle some criticisms without freaking out, you will be ready to create a useful musician's tool. Until then, keep at it and try again.

Not a very sophisticated app - MickMadSoft
You're too right for me.I'll get iBeat discontiuned and it will become only a tuner, but it's better to me to stop working on a thing that's quite useless in front of things such as GarageBand.I don't have GarageBand since i work on a "mere" iMac DV (yes, the G3 one) but you should know that i'm only 15 and I teached myself REALbasic.I actually can't learn C++ since I can't practice it because I don't have any compiler or debugger.I can't fix the metronome bug since the timer control in RB hogs the CPU and there's nothing I can do.Everything is theorically ok, but that's complied in RB 3.5.1 ( i tried to do that in 5.5 and it was great and fast, but it would say that's been compiled in demo version).I'll try to do my best in creating a useful tuner app.Sunday, August 07 2005 @ 11:20 AM PDT

Pretty good for a 15-year old. But tay away from languages like basic. Learn Scheme (get PLT) and then things will work fine.Auguri
